“World Art: Beyond the Mexican Mural” is a class designed by Judith Baca to promote UCLA students’ creative and teaching abilities at a local school and in the community of East L.A. Instead of a midterm and finals, the class tests students’ retention of course information by having them design and paint a mural in Venice, Los Angeles with the local community. Jose Ramirez Jr., one of students enrolled in the course, also hopes to further pursue his own mural project on UCLA’s campus.
