Heading into the 24th hour of Dance Marathon. The crowd seemed tired, but pumped. They were dancing. They were singing. And in front of them stood Michael Basic.

Basic, one of the nine DJs at the event, has DJ’d at several events put on by fraternities and sororities at UCLA.

This is his fifth year DJ’ing for Dance Marathon.

“I’ve played at clubs around the country of all sizes across the country, but Dance Marathon is the event I look forward to each year,” Basic said, as he prepared the next song to play for the sea of participants in front of him.
