The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
- The weekly contingency allocations were unanimously approved.
- The council unanimously voted to use $368 of its discretionary funds on Internet firewall security for USAC computers.
- Cassarah Chu, student wellness commissioner, was absent.
Officer Reports
- President David Bocarsly said he is working with the Constitutional Review Committee to create a proposal for possible changes to the council bylaws to clarify which offices make which specific appointments.
- Lana El-Farra, external vice president, said her office plans to hold a presentation and open forum about Proposition 13 reform during week eight of this quarter.
- Kim Davis, academic affairs commissioner, said her office is working to expand the Undergraduate Student Intiated Education program from 15 student-taught classes to 30 for the next academic year. She said her office also plans to host a forum about a potential diversity-related requirement and the future of online classes at UCLA during week eight of this quarter.
Appointments
- The council unanimously appointed Matthew Satyadi, a first-year sociology student, to the Judicial Board.
Special Presentations
- Scott Arno, a representative for the Student Health Advisory Committee, presented to the council about the University of California Student Health Insurance Plan and its budget problems.
