The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
- The council unanimously approved the weekly contingency allocations.
- The $110 capital contingency allocation was unanimously approved.
- The Student Organizations Operation Fund, or SOOF, allocations were approved unanimously.
- Dana Pede, USAC Election Board chair, presented the spring USAC elections calendar to council. The council unanimously approved the calendar, which will be posted on the Election Board’s website.
Officer reports
- USAC President David Bocarsly said he met with UCLA Student Affairs, Office of Residential Life and UCLA Development about the possible leadership development fund and hopes to establish the fund by the end of this quarter. He said that he is working with UCLA Development to finalize the language to establish the endowment.
- Andrea Hester, internal vice president, said her office is putting on an International Speed Dating event with the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars for both international and domestic students on Feb. 7 from 6-10 p.m. in Tom Bradley International Hall room 300.
- Lana El-Farra, external vice president, said her office is looking into having UCLA host another L.A. mayoral debate after the primaries in March.
- Kim Davis, academic affairs commissioner, said the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender studies minor is in danger of being merged with the gender studies minor.
Appointments
- Sofia Haq, a third-year psychology and linguistics student, was unanimously appointed to the Associated Students UCLA Communications Board.
- The council unanimously appointed Serena Lee, a fourth-year communication studies student, to the UCLA Committee on Disability.
- Rashmi Raviprasad, a first-year astrophysics student, was appointed to the Committee on LGBTQ Affairs by a vote of 11-0-1.
Special Presentations
- Tommy Le, a campus organizer for the UC Student Association, presented to the council about the organization.
