UCLA dug itself in an early hole with some shaky defense, allowing Oregon State to build a five-point lead after the first 3:58 of the game, before recovering to take a 37-26 lead at the half.
Coach Ben Howland quickly called a timeout to regroup his team after the early spurt and over the next 2:55, UCLA clawed back with a 12-2 run to gain its first lead – one which it wouldn’t relinquish for the rest of the half.
Redshirt junior forward Travis Wear leads the Bruins in scoring with nine points. Freshman guard Kyle Anderson leads both teams in rebounding with seven in the half.
