Fox, an All-Pac-12 player for UCLA in 2011, started every game last season and batted .251.
The junior’s sister, Kristie Fox, was an All-American shortstop for the Wildcats. Kellie Fox started classes at Arizona on Wednesday.
UCLA softball declined to comment on Fox’s decision to transfer.
She will redshirt this season and start playing for the Wildcats in 2014. She will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. She is currently recovering from ulnar nerve replacement surgery.
The penalty for transferring within the Pac-12 is normally a lost year of eligibility after sitting out for one season, but Arizona petitioned to give Fox two years to play after she sits out 2013.
Arizona’s former shortstop, sophomore Shelby Pendley, left the team in December.
Arizona, who made it to the semi-finals of last season’s College World Series, and UCLA are Pac-12 rivals. The Bruins were 1-2 against the Wildcats in 2012.
UCLA’s season is set to start on Feb. 8 when they host the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament at Easton Stadium.
