UCLA men’s golf rounded out its fall season with the same power it has displayed all season long.
The Bruins took first place at the Gifford Collegiate Championship. They have placed in the top five of every tournament they have participated in so far this year.
In addition to being yet another win, it was the second competition of the year in which the Bruins finished under par. They had a team score of 1062 (-3) over three days of play.
Their strong overall finish was due to several strong performances. Four golfers finished in the top 10.
UCLA’s top overall finisher was senior Pontus Widegren, who finished in fourth place with a 210 (-3).
Right behind Widegren was freshman Lorens Chan, who tied for fifth.
The pattern continued ““ the Bruins’ next finisher was redshirt sophomore Manav Shah, who took seventh, and sophomore Preston Valder in eighth.
Sophomores Jay Hwang and Matt Pinizzotto finished 13th and 16th respectively.
UCLA also had four additional freshmen in the competition. Jonathan Garrick tied for 20th, followed by Jake Knapp, who tied for 49th. Reilly McMahon and Aaron Kunimoto finished in 61st.
The Bruins will restart their season at the Cal State San Marcos Invitational.
