Senior Zakiya Bywaters was named Pac-12 Player of the Year this morning.
She scored 13 goals this season, all of which were game-winning. It was a breakout offensive season for the midfielder/forward from Las Vegas, who scored eight goals in her first three seasons in blue and gold.
A starter from the beginning of her freshman year, Bywaters has played in 84 of 88 career games for the Bruins.
The 30 points she scored this year made up half of her career total, as she has 60 points to her name in her time as a Bruin.
She was named to the All-Pac-12 team last season and the All-Freshman team her freshman year. This year, UCLA soccer tied a school record with eight players on All-Conference teams.
Her goal and game-winning goal total led the Pac-12 this year, as did her 30 points. She was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Award Watch List, the highest honor in women’s college soccer.
