Officer Reports
President David Bocarsly said he is working with the UCLA administration to plan for a potential budget crisis, depending on funding from the state.
Andrea “Andi” Hester, internal vice president, said her office is planning to hold an international comedy show for both domestic and international students to come together and learn about different cultures through comedy.
Lana Habib El-Farra, external vice president, said her office informed about 10,000 people about voting on Bruin Walk leading up to elections.
Kim Davis, academic affairs commissioner, said the new director of admissions, Gary Clark, formerly a senior associate director of admission at the University of Southern California, officially took his position at UCLA. She added that the council plans to work closely with him this year.
Appointments
The council unanimously appointed Monica Martinez, a third-year psychology student, to the Community Service Mini Fund committee.
The council approved Dana Trans, a fourth-year environmental science student, to the Campus Sustainability Committee.
Special Presentations
Justin Boogaard, a UCLA alumnus and representative from Ark Broadcasting, an entertainment company that provides an alternate source of entertainment for public spaces, presented to council. Boogaard added that the company would bring revenue in for school services and he is going to meet with the Associated Students UCLA Board of Directors.
