This weekend, the UCLA men’s golf team proved that a fresh lineup and a change of location wouldn’t faze them.
At the U.S. Collegiate Championship in Georgia, the Bruins took second place overall with a score of 875 ( 11).
Freshmen Jonathan Garrick and Jake Knapp and redshirt sophomore transfer Manav Shah all competed in their first collegiate competition for the team, proving themselves more than capable. Garrick was also UCLA’s top overall finisher, with a tie for ninth place with 218 ( 2).
The Bruins finished their first round tied for sixth place. After a surge to first on Saturday, they settled into a second-place finish in the final round Sunday.
Knapp tied for 28th at 222 ( 6). Sophomore Matt Pinizzotto tied for 41st with a score totaling 224 ( 8). Shah tied for 46th at 225 ( 9). Junior Anton Arboleda rounded out the Bruin squad with a 50th place finish, scoring 226 ( 10).
