You live in an old apartment complex on Roebling.
Sure your rent is overpriced, but you grin and bear it due to its close proximity to school. It’s a Friday morning. And you have an 8 a.m. section with mandatory attendance. For whatever reason, waking up in the morning just really feels awful.
After skipping over a mattress on the sidewalk, you continue your walk to class.
For lunch, you might head on over to the Westwood Village.
But have you taken a stroll on Westwood Boulevard? To make sure you don’t miss the buses on the corner of Le Conte and Westwood, you also have to be careful not to trip on the overused road.
Walking by the countless vacant storefronts, you realize that, in order to purchase essential electronic equipment and specific brand-name clothing, you have to drive or take a bus to Century City or the Third Street Promenade. Heck, even Acapulco Mexican Restaurant left Westwood.
Here’s the bottom line: The quality of life for UCLA students within the Westwood Village will never begin to progress until the student body becomes directly involved in improvement projects.
Voting in the Westwood Neighborhood Council is the perfect starting place for a concerned UCLA student who wants to make their home revive into a thriving community.
The council is an advisory board for local zoning, planning and general issues throughout the Westwood Village. It deals with important issues that directly affect the quality of life for all Westwood residents ““ especially students.
So it is vital we as students make our voices heard in their discussions.
Please vote and support candidates ““ especially the students running for office and working tirelessly to make Westwood an attractive and worthy destination.
