Coming into this weekend, the Bruins women’s soccer team was focused on improving their game rather than worrying about who they were playing.

Their approach turned out to be the right one as they earned two more road victories.

The No. 3 Bruins defeated Oregon State 4-1 on Sunday afternoon and shutout Oregon 1-0 on Friday night to improve to 11-0-2 this season with a 4-0-1 record in the conference.

UCLA scored twice in the first six minutes against Oregon State, who was able to get one past sophomore goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland with 30 seconds left in the first half.

But the Bruins added two more goals early in the second half to put the game away.

Senior midfielder Zakiya Bywaters continued her impressive season by scoring two goals against Oregon State on Sunday, pushing her Pac-12-leading total to 11.

It was a good day for sophomore midfielder Sarah Killion, as she scored her first career goal as a Bruin.

UCLA posted its seventh shutout victory of the season on Friday at Oregon. Bywaters had three early chances to score, but was unable to find the back of the net.

The team’s other major offensive weapon, freshman forward Taylor Smith, was able to score the only goal of the game.

With an unbeaten streak of 21 games, the Bruins will take their undefeated record into Washington State next weekend for the last game of their current road trip.
