BERKELEY, Calif. “”mdash; UCLA will have to wait two more years to try for its first win at California’s Memorial Stadium since 1998, as the Bruins fell 43-17 Saturday to the Golden Bears.
Trailing 16-7 at halftime, UCLA surrendered 13 third-quarter points and its fourth-quarter comeback fell short, handing Cal its first win over an FBS team this season.
UCLA was plagued by poor execution throughout the game, which was highlighted in the second half when the Bruins continually turned the ball over.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Brett Hundley threw a career-high four interceptions while the Bruins fumbled two other times in a sloppy effort. UCLA was also penalized 12 times for 99 yards. The Golden Bears ““ who entered the game having surrendered the most sacks in the FBS ““ sacked Hundley 5 times.
The game marks UCLA’s first Pac-12 road loss and drops the Bruins to 4-2 overall, 1-2 in conference play.
