Family and friends begin spreading fliers to help find missing UCLA student

The family and friends of a UCLA student who was reported missing more than one week ago have begun an effort to spread missing persons fliers up the West Coast, in hopes of increasing the chances of finding information about his whereabouts.

David Goeser, a fourth-year English student, was last seen by his roommates on July 22 in his apartment on the 1000 block of Roebling Avenue. The 22-year-old student’s car was found three days later in the Pacific Palisades, according a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department released on July 25.

The LAPD extended their search for David Goeser up the West Coast, as of late last week. His family believes he may be headed to Vancouver, Wash., because a Washington driver’s license was found in his apartment, said Daivd Goeser’s mother, Christi Goeser.

But police have made little progress in the search, LAPD said Wednesday.

Goeser’s friends have posted the flier on a Facebook page created to help aid the search. They are also expanding the search by asking people to help post fliers in hospitals, homeless shelters, bus stations and other public places along Highway 101, the Pacific Coast Highway and Interstate 5.

[UPDATED at 7:45 p.m.: UCLA administrators are contributing to the search effort by asking other UC campuses to pass out the flier, according to a university statement released Tuesday.

“David is a member of the Bruin family, and we are all very concerned for his safety and well-being,” said Janina Montero, UCLA vice chancellor for student affairs, in the statement.]

About 200 fliers are currently available in the Center for Student Programming in 105 Kerckhoff Hall and can also be downloaded from the Facebook website. Anyone with information about Goeser’s whereabouts should call the LAPD missing persons unit at (213) 996-1800 or (877) 527-3247.
