Outgoing UCLA dean appointed as UC provost for academic affairs

The outgoing dean of the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies was appointed as the University of California provost and executive vice president for academic affairs today.

The UC Board of Regents ratified Aimée Dorr’s appointment as the UC provost in a special meeting this afternoon.

As the new UC provost, Dorr will serve as the chief academic officer and will oversee academic excellence across all 10 UC campuses, according to a press release from the UC Office of the President.

She will assume responsibilites for her new position on July 2, according to the statement.

Prior to her appointment, Dorr had informed UCLA Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh she would step down from her position at the end of this month, according to a statement on Waugh’s website. The Graduate School of Education and Information Studies has since then appointed a new incoming dean.
