Electronic Entertainment Expo arrives with hands-on demos, anticipated news

Attention, gaming geeks and technology hounds. The anticipatory cheers and tears, cringe-inducing speeches and pure gaming pandemonium associated with the world’s largest and most prestigious annual gaming convention have arrived.

Starting Monday at 9:30 a.m. with individual publisher press conferences and continuing all week with hands-on demos, the Electronic Entertainment Expo is home to some of the most awaited gaming announcements of the year. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, this year’s E3 has already divulged some of its secret previews such as a game reveal and trailer for Mercury Steam’s “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2,” a sequel to last year’s vampire-slaying, action-oriented title.

Bursting with fully disclosed gaming news from the biggest publishers in the gaming industry such as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, this year’s E3 will feature a wide mix of content that all gamers can appreciate, including a showing of Nintendo’s Wii U before it’s released later this fall.

Sadly, the conference is only open to those directly connected to the gaming industry, which means most fans are barred from joining in the festivities. However, don’t fret or throw down your controller in a fit of rage and disappointment. This is where I come in. For the next couple of days I will be your eyes and thumbs in the wonderful, technology-filled land that is E3.

From Capcom’s “Resident Evil 6″ to Crystal Dynamics’ rebooted “Tomb Raider,” there’s plenty of gaming news to look forward to, so make like a petrified Kratos in gorgon stone, don’t move a muscle and stay tuned for the next few days as I tweet, blog and live what’s happening on the convention floor.
