The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
- Contingency allocations were approved unanimously.
- The council unanimously voted to allow UCLA faculty representation at council meetings with the hopes of filling an empty faculty representative potential on the council at a later date.
Officer reports
- President David Bocarsly said he met with Janina Montero, vice chancellor for student affairs, and discussed ways for the council to be involved in working with campus climate issues. Bocarsly said he will also be meeting with Eena Singh, chair of the 2012 USAC Election Board, today to discuss the election code.
- Andrea “Andi” Hester, internal vice president, said she met with General Representative Yasar Mohebi and External Vice President Lana El-Farra to discuss advocating for better representation of transfer students on campus.
- Lana El-Farra, external vice president, said representatives from her office lobbied at the UC Board of Regents meeting at Sacramento on Wednesday. She also said her office is working with Bruin Democrats and Bruin Republicans to register voters this week.
- Kim Davis, Academic Affairs commissioner, said students and faculty have until June 15 to participate in the Academic Senate’s Chancellorial Stewardship Review, through which they can evaluate Chancellor Gene Block’s leadership qualities.
- Jan Tancinco, Campus Events commissioner, said her office will be hosting Bruins Night Out on Thursday in Westwood Village with a movie screening and restaurant deals.
Special Presentations
- UCLA Volunteer Center Fellows presented to the council about Volunteer Day and asked councilmembers for suggestions and help with outreach and recruitment of service liaisons.
- Representatives from CALPIRG updated the USAC officers on the Los Angeles city council vote on a plastic bag ban, which is set to take place today at 10 a.m.
