The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
- The council approved contingency allocations unanimously by a vote of 12-0-0.
- The council approved the results for this year’s undergraduate student government elections, which took place last week.
- The council approved changes to the Undergraduate Students Association bylaws which included a name change to the office of the Student Welfare Commission. The office will now be called the Student Wellness Commission after the student body approved the name change in last week’s undergraduate student government election.
- Eena Singh, chair of the USAC Election Board, said there would be a review of the endorsement hearing process for the undergraduate student government elections. Loopholes in the process were exposed in this year’s elections when the Bruins United slate misrepresented the endorsements of several student groups.
- The council approved the wording for a plaque that will memorialize the 1962 undergraduate student government council, which supported allowing the use of student body funds to post bail for UCLA students who were incarcerated for participating in the 1961 Freedom Rides during the Civil Rights Movement.
Officer reports
- Councilmembers gave farewells to their fellow officers on council. Tuesday marked the last official meeting for this year’s council. Next year’s officers, elected in last week’s undergraduate student government elections, will be inducted into office on Sunday.
