UCPD investigate reported burglary in De Neve dorm room

University police are investigating a report of a burglary in a De Neve dorm room early Monday morning.

A UCLA student woke up a little before 4 a.m. on Monday and saw a man standing by the student’s bed in their De Neve Fir dorm room, according to a police report released Monday. The man left when the student’s roommate entered the room, and $20 was stolen from the student’s desk, the report stated.

Shortly after, a man matching a similar description was seen inside a nearby room on the same floor, according to the report. The man quickly left the room after the student noticed him, which was around 4 a.m., the report stated.

There were no reported injuries, according to the report.

The man in the first incident is described in the report as dark-skinned with black hair, wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. In the second case, the man is described as dark-skinned with a medium build, wearing a green shirt and jeans, according to the report.

UCPD recommends students always lock their doors and windows and not open doors for people they do not know. If in a burglary situation, students should comply with the person, take a detailed description of the person’s characteristics, and report the situation to the police once safe.

Anyone with information regarding this burglary should call UCPD at (310) 825-1491.
