Tips for safely enjoying Weekend Two of Coachella music festival

It’s that time of year again when people gather together to spends large amounts of cash to sweat and enjoy some live music and art at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Weekend One may be in the past, but music fans packing their bags for Weekend Two should still be prepared for just about anything. Here are some tips to help make one’s Coachella experience a little easier.

Make a game plan

With over 100 artists it is best to decide before the festival which artists are most important to see and whether they conflict with each other. On the Coachella website set times are available and festival-goers can register to log on and make a schedule for an ideal lineup over the weekend. When it comes to conflicting performances times, it is also a good idea to make a game plan to keep track of your group. It is best to pick a spot to meet up after performances in case the group gets separated.

Be prepared for anything

It rained during Weekend One, and weather can always make a surprise turn for the unpleasant. Being prepared for any type of weather for the three days is important. It would be good to pack a poncho as well as shorts in case of high or low temperatures.

An important part of car camping is having a tent. Sleeping in a car is not allowed and a tent or other living space must be set up in the camping spot. If buying a tent is not a viable option then tents can be rented at the Wooden Center, as well as other camping supplies such as sleeping bags and lanterns.

Whether the temperature is in the high ’90s or in the low ’70s, staying hydrated is still important. There are plenty of water stations around to fill up water bottles to stay cool. Bringing snacks is also good for the long waits between shows.

Make sure you have a ride

If transportation is still an issue for Weekend Two, then taking the Greyhound or finding a ride with Zimride are still options. Another method for the more creative attendees includes a contest to win prizes, including a lifetime guarantee of VIP Coachella tickets. Those making the trek with four or more people have the opportunity to decorate their car to say “Carpoolchella,” and a judge will be walking around the campgrounds and selecting winners.

Another helpful transport is complimentary rides from to and from the festival grounds. Coachella car campers have the opportunity to take free golf cart rides to the festival entrance from various areas around the campground.

Discover new music and enjoy the art

Eventually there will be free time to explore the festival and see what other opportunities there are. The festival grounds will be filled with pieces of art, food trucks, a phone charging station, music store and the list continues. Taking time to appreciate the rest of the festival is important in order to get the whole experience of the music and art event.

Stay connected with festival updates

In case an artist gets sick or every festival-goer gets free merchandise it is important to stay updated with news on the event so you can be prepared. Checking back on the Coachella website, Twitter or Facebook page is a good way to keep up with what’s going on.
