My congratulations to UCLA in general, and the UCLA chapter of Youth for Ron Paul specifically, for a great town hall event with the congressman Wednesday night. We drove from San Diego to attend, with my disabled mother-in-law and 10-year-old daughter. While your campus is beautiful and your academic reputation is strong, the real measure of a university is its student body. Every single student we encountered was happy, polite, helpful and engaged. Vibrancy abounded on your campus as we saw student groups dancing, performing and playing sports.
The Los Angeles Tennis Center is a first-class venue, security was present but not overpowering and student volunteers went out of their way to ensure that my disabled mother-in-law was seated and comfortable. Before, during and after the rally, UCLA students engaged in the debate about the direction of our country with marked intelligence and respect. It is that important resource, your student body, which makes my wife and I consider UCLA to be one of the top choices for my daughter’s undergraduate education.
Take a bow, Bruins. You earned it.
