This week, we asked students what their favorite campus-sponsored event was this year.

Samantha Smith
Third-year, history
“World AIDS day. A UCLA alumnus who was HIV positive spoke. He was one of the first cases, and he’s still alive. He was so inspiring and positive. It was interesting to hear and made me switch some of my views.”

Camille Fenton
Fourth-year, history and French
“Speak Out in De Neve auditorium. Ambassadors came and gave talks about HIV. It was really inspiring. Being on Pediatric AIDS Coalition makes it real to us.”

Carly Yoshida
Second-year, English
“Bruins Night Out. It’s how Westwood should be every night ““ it was so packed.”

Anh Nguyen
Fifth-year, physics
“Homecoming. It was awesome, and it turned out better than I had expected. Also the Los Angeles A Capella Festival. It’s a high-profile event but so undercover. I helped start it four years ago.”

Jordan Waite
First-year, neuroscience
“Bruin Bash was fun because I’m a freshman, and it was the first big campus event. It gave me a feel for the spirit that UCLA has.”

Michael Starr
Third-year, Spanish and linguistics
“”˜Spring Awakening’ by Hooligan Theatre Company. I thought it was incredible that UCLA students could put on such an amazing performance.”
