Back from a concussion that kept him out of UCLA’s last game, sophomore center Joshua Smith was very effective despite foul trouble. He put up seven first-half points, tied for the most on the team with senior guard Lazeric Jones.
The Bruins out-hustled the out-manned Sun Devils, grabbing eight offensive rebounds and putting up 10 second-chance points.
ASU quickly went up 18-8 before UCLA started chipping back. The Sun Devils previously suspended three players for their trip to Los Angeles, but still managed to beat USC at Galen Center on Thursday night.
