A UCLA student was arrested amid violent protests against today’s California State University tuition increase.

About 300 people, 25 from UCLA, rallied outside the chancellor’s office at CSU Long Beach, where the trustees’ meeting was held to vote on a 9 percent tuition hike. The proposal passed 9-6.

The UCLA student, whose name could not be confirmed, was arrested on suspicion of breaking a glass door, said Stephanie Thara, a CSU representative.

The atmosphere became charged when students were forcibly removed from the meeting for disruptive behavior, said Kyle Arnone, a doctoral student in sociology who was at the meeting.
