Cal State trustees vote to increase tuition by 9 percent

The California State University Board of Trustees voted to increase tuition by 9 percent on Wednesday. The hike, which goes into effect next fall, will amount to just under $500, bringing the total cost of tuition to almost $6,000.

Protests organized by the ReFund California Coalition took place during the meeting. Three protesters were taken into custody, police said.

Buses left from UCLA to attend the protest, according to the ReFund California Coalition website. It is not yet known if any UCLA students were among those arrested.
