Today, we’re honoring the Daily Bruin’s Book Week. Anne Koch, who graduated from UCLA in 1969, has witnessed what she sees as the diminishing role of books, especially in today’s digital age. She calls attention to their ability to spark the imagination through her collection of essays, “It’s All About the Story ““ Composing a Life in Books.” Fourth-year English and art student Latoya Raveneau is working on her poetry thesis. She talks about how conventional plot lines take a backseat as the words and images take on a dynamic life of their own. Alumnus Derek Taylor Kent has woven a magical and horrific children’s narrative, ““Scary School”:http://www.scaryschool.com/.” He shares how his imagination brought this cast of monsters and regular kids together.
