Different hospitals have joined forces to create Operation Mend, provide health care to veterans

Oct. 24, 2011 – Operation Mend reaches out to soldiers who were severely wounded or disfigured during service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Program manager Melanie Gideon describes how the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center and the Veterans Association Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System join forces in providing reconstructive surgeries and other health services to veterans such as retired Army Sergeant First Class Michael Schlitz. He explains his life-changing experience with the program.
