UCLA’s executive director of athletic communications, Nick Ammazzalorso, issued the following statement to the Daily Bruin regarding former NFL agent Josh Luchs’ accusations against the school in the ESPN documentary, “The Dotted Line.”
“We are aware of the accusations about our program made by former agent Josh Luchs on ESPN’s The Dotted Line. Ours is a public campus with several points of access to many of our athletic facilities. However, I can confidently assure you the access points to our football facilities are all closely monitored by our coaches and other staff during all team activities. Further, Mr. Luchs drove up a private access road being used by construction vehicles doing work on Pauley Pavilion to demonstrate his point.
“Lastly, our coaching staff and compliance department representatives have been extremely diligent about educating all of our players about the guidelines for athlete-agent interaction set forth by the NCAA. It is important to note that, contrary to the insinuations of Mr. Luchs, it is not an NCAA violation for a student-athlete to speak with an agent as long as he or she does not accept anything from that agent.”
UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel was asked about the film at Tuesday’s practice but declined to comment.
