The non-conference season is behind the UCLA football team as it now prepares to start Pac-12 play Saturday against Oregon State in Corvalis, Ore.
Coach Rick Neuheisel met with reporters Monday afternoon as he does each Monday and opened by stating that his team isn’t as far along as he would like them to be as they went 1-2 in the non-conference play.
Neuheisel tried to pinpoint UCLA’s areas of concern, particularly on the defensive side of the football where the Bruins have given up have given up about 35 points per game and had serious issues making tackles upon initial contact. UCLA’s opponents have also converted on 51 percent of their third-down tries, something Neuheisel hopes to correct this week.
