Almost nine hours down, only 17 more to go.
While the majority of the dancers are still rocking it out on the dance floor, a few have found the Activity Room a quiet place to take a break from the head-pounding music ““ all while standing up, of course.
Filled with games ranging from checkers to Rock Band (there’s even a group of people playing Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64, old-school), the Activity Room is a place where dancers and moralers can take a break and have some fun, said Lee Bearden, a fourth-year communication studies student and Pediatric Aids Coalition volunteer.
“It’s just a fun way for people to interact with each other off the dance floor,” he said.
He added that the Activity Room also gives dancers who may not like dancing the chance to still participate and support the cause.
In one corner of the room, first-year computer science and engineering student Kirby Cool and first-year environmental science student Kim Bowen have just finished playing a game of Combat Uno and are now working on a jigsaw puzzle.
“It’s nice that there’s something else to do other than dance,” Cool said. “It’s a good place to take a break.”
The Activity Room isn’t all about fun and games, though. PAC has set up a laptop for students who need to sign up for their classes. Now that’s covering all the bases.
