The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
- Finance Committee Chair Isaac Rose’s contingency allocations were approved with a vote of 9-0-0.
- Fourth-year English student Ernesto Zumaya was appointed UCLA’s representative for United States Students Association.
Officer Reports
- Applications for the state and national student lobby conferences are available on External Vice President Cristopher Santos’ website.
- Student representatives from Santos’ office will also be lobbying at UC San Diego on the second day of the UC Board of Regents’ meeting.
- Facilities Commissioner JC De Vera’s office will be holding a Campus Safety Awareness fair during fifth week to educate students about campus resources that can help keep them safe.
Special Presentations
- Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Janina Montero presented a plan to introduce a survey to gauge the diversity and inclusiveness on campus. The survey will be sent out to students on Feb. 14, and randomly selected participants will receive prizes for their input.
- CALPIRG representatives Paulina Popovskaia and former Daily Bruin contributor Joel Sharples spoke about the organization’s goals for the quarter and trends in membership. Because fewer students are pledging to donate every quarter, CALPIRG has implemented a new system that will require 10 percent of students on campus to commit before any actions can be taken.
- A representative from the UCLA Extension Pathway Program encouraged councilmembers to get involved in and offer suggestions for the program. The two-year certificate program provides students who have developmental disabilities with resources to find jobs, live independently and assimilate into the UCLA community.
