Another year, another awards show where everyone scrutinizes what the stars wear on the red carpet, even when they are all practically wearing the same thing. Well, everyone except for Helena Bonham Carter, who wore different shoes on each foot. Now that is a feat. (Pun so intended.)
In this week’s Fashion or Whatever column, I discuss the constant boredom seen on the awards show red carpet, and when I am talking about boring, I am not lying. Read about it here.
I thought that Natalie Portman would pull out all the stops what with her lock on the Best Actress award and the fanciful baby bump, courtesy of her ballerina fiance/co-star/baby daddy, Benjamin Millepied. Probably the most interesting thing that Portman wore was the smile on her face when she was discussing how Millepied did want to sleep with her despite his one line in the movie where he didn’t. Thanks for invoking the jealousy of tens of dozens of little girls with doe eyes for him.
But all in all, the 2011 Golden Globes red carpet fashion was a snooze fest. Did you think that everyone looked the same at this year’s Golden Globes, or do you even care about who wears what anymore?
