Bruins Lead Mustangs 34-28 at the Half

Finals week is over but the UCLA men’s basketball team is still being tested at Pauley Pavilion

Cal Poly, of the Big West Conference, came out hot and pushed the tempo on the Bruins but the Bruins battled back near the end of the half to take a 34-26 lead into halftime. UCLA is looking to avoid a repeat of its embarrassing 66-57 loss to Montana, a game that was also played at home.

Joshua Smith, who rejoined the starting lineup after he came off the bench against Kansas and Montana, leads all scorers with 11 points. He has also pulled down six rebounds. Sophomores Reeves Nelson and Brendan Lane put in nine and seven points, respectively. Malcolm Lee, who continues to battle a knee injury, was scoreless in the first half.
