UCLA Baseball snares another batch of recruits

The UCLA baseball program has signed eight high schoolers to letters of intent during the early signing period, and there are some familiar names in the bunch.

Coach John Savage announced Friday that the Bruins had received commitments from six position players and two pitchers. Among the group are INF/OF Tyler Goeddel – younger brother of former UCLA pitcher Erik – and INF Shane Zeile, the nephew of former MLB third baseman Todd Zeile.

The new batch of signees – which will arrive in Westwood in the fall of 2011 – comes on the heels of a 2010 recruiting class that was ranked No. 3 in the country by Baseball America. It has become clear that the Bruins’ run to the College World Series championship hasn’t hurt their recruiting.

“Our program is thrilled that these players have chosen to attend and play baseball at UCLA,” Savage said in a press release. “We look forward to the contributions that these players will make down the road.”
