As the Pac-10 winds down its final football season with 10 teams, the conference has laid out the scheduling format for the new Pac-12 in 2011 and beyond.
The dates for UCLA’s 2011 football games were announced Friday:
Sept. 3 at Houston
Sept. 10 vs. San Jose State
Sept. 17 vs. Texas
Sept. 24 at Oregon State
Oct. 1 at Stanford
Oct. 8 vs. Washington State
Oct. 20 at Arizona
Oct. 29 vs. California
Nov. 5 vs. Arizona State
Nov. 12 at Utah
Nov. 19 vs. Colorado
Nov. 26 at USC
Dec. 3 Pac-12 Championship Game
UCLA’s schedule includes nine of the same opponents as the 2010 slate to go along with three new faces: the pair of Pac-12 South “mountain” schools ““ Utah and Colorado ““ and San Jose State.
Commissioner Larry Scott announced earlier this month that each team in the Pac-12 would continue to play nine games a year but would switch from a round-robin schedule to a 5-2-2 format. Here’s a breakdown of each four-year cycle for UCLA in Pac-12 football, starting next year:
The Bruins will continue to play the Bay Area teams under the new format, while alternating between pairs of the other Pac-12 North schools every two years. Of note, UCLA’s 2011 schedule doesn’t include current No. 1 Oregon or Washington, two schools that UCLA won’t have to face off against until 2013.
