USAC Recap

The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.

Agenda
“¢bull; Finance Committee Vice Chair Kia Saedi’s contingency allocations were passed with a unanimous vote, 11-0-0.
“¢bull; The council discussed John Wooden Day, which was held Oct. 14, and evaluated its successes and areas for improvement.

Special Presentations
“¢bull; Board members from the Pre-Law Society at UCLA discussed the events the Pre-Law Society has planned for the academic year, such as the upcoming Law Forum on Nov. 4, and asked the council for support in advertising their events.

Officer Reports
“¢bull; President Jasmine Hill spoke about how USAC could move forward in communicating with the chancellor and the UC Board of Regents to advocate for maintaining affordability and access at UCLA.
“¢bull; External Vice President Cristopher Santos updated the council on the work the Student Vote Coalition has done in getting students to register to vote and how it will continue to engage students in the election process. He also discussed the upcoming UC Regents meeting, where the regents will be discussing a possible additional 20 percent fee increase.
“¢bull; Suza Khy, the Academic Affairs commissioner, said her office is working with the Islamic Studies Program to promote diversity on campus. Another rally to save Islamic studies is planned for Oct. 22.
