USAC Recap

The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.

Special Presentations

  • Scott Gwartz, a representative from UCLA ISP Sports Network, presented a proposal for a USAC/UCLA Athletics partnership to increase USAC’s brand awareness and exposure within the UCLA community. ISP Sports Network runs UCLA Athletic’s corporate sponsorships.

Fund Allocations

  • Finance Committee Vice Chair Kia Saedi’s contingency allocations were approved with a unanimous vote of 12-0-0.

Officer Reports

  • Internal Vice President Stephanie Lucas spoke about an upcoming meeting with the UCLA administration to discuss the possibility of digitizing the Student Activity Center Test Bank.
  • External Vice President Chris Santos reported on his experience at the University of California Student Association’s UC Student Congress held Aug. 12-15 at UC Irvine.

Agenda

  • The council approved Campus Events Commissioner Charles Ma and Cultural Events Commissioner Kinnery Shah’s request for Bruin Bash funding with a vote of 12-0-0.
  • Financial Support Commissioner Rustom Birdie and Facilities Commissioner JC De Vera were appointed to the Funding Study Group.
  • Voting for the Resolution in Support of Judge Vaughn Walker’s Ruling on Proposition 8 was tabled until the next USAC meeting.
  • The council heard reports from various committees with regards to planning for John Wooden Day, which is set for his birthday October 14.
