The UCLA women’s rowing program made another significant stride over the weekend.
Competing in their first ever NCAA Championships, held at Sacramento State Aquatic Center, the Bruins took 12th place in the 16-team field that included five other Pac-10 teams.
UCLA’s varsity eight boat finished ninth overall in the weekend’s flagship event after picking up third in Sunday’s Petite Final.
Meanwhile, the Bruins’ second varsity eight boat finished third in their final and the varsity four finished second in theirs.
A host of Pac-10 schools posted quality scores on Sunday. California finished in second, five points back of national champion Virginia, while defending national champion Stanford took home fourth.
Yale’s varsity eight team posted the fastest time in that race, while newly crowned national champion Virginia won the varsity fours race.
