Rowing unable to topple Trojan lead

Drake Stadium was not the only place where UCLA and USC went head-to-head this weekend. The two teams had to travel all the way down to San Pedro. The respective rowing teams of the Los Angeles rivals met on Saturday, with the No. 10 Trojans pulling out a 4-3 victory.

In a scoring format that favors the winner of the first varsity eight race, USC was able to garner the win despite the fact that No. 12 UCLA won three of the races to USC’s two.

The Trojans were victorious in the first varsity eight race ““ good for three points ““ as well as the first varsity four race. UCLA won three other races, but all of the races apart from the first varsity eight are good for just one point.

The Bruins now get two weeks before the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships and Pac-10 Championships on May 15-16.
