The UCLA men’s tennis team will compete in the Pac-10 tournament this week in Ojai.

Although they are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 4-3 victory over then-No. 4 USC six days ago, the No. 8 Bruins will be competing individually in the Pac-10 championships.

Five players will be competing in the singles draw for UCLA.

Junior Amit Inbar received the No. 5 seed in the weekend tournament and represents the highest-seeded UCLA player. The only other Bruin player seeded is fellow junior Nick Meister.

Inbar will take on Stanford’s Denis Lin in the first round today at 11 a.m. Meister will go up against Cal’s Sky Lovill at 8 a.m.

Also competing for the Bruins are seniors Kallim Stewart and Matt Brooklyn, as well as freshman Maxime Tabatruong. Stewart will take on Washington’s Tobi Obenaus at 11 a.m. today, and if Stewart is victorious, he will most likely take on the tournament’s No. 1 seed, USC’s Robert Farah.

Brooklyn will go against Oregon’s Marco Verdasco, and Tabatruong will face Arizona’s Jay Goldman. If Tabatruong wins, barring an upset, his next opponent will be the No. 2 seed, Stanford’s Bradley Klahn.

Not competing for the Bruins in the Pac-10 tournament are senior Haythem Abid and junior Holden Seguso. Abid has been battling a wrist injury for the better part of three years and has been in and out of the Bruins’ lineup for more than a month. Seguso has been competing in both singles and doubles for UCLA as of late, but will sit out of the Pac-10 championships.

In preparation for the Pac-10 tournament on Tuesday, the Bruins were scheduled to play a make-up match against the San Diego Toreros. But the match was once again rained out.

With their last match coming against the Trojans last Friday, the Bruins will not compete as a team until May 15, when NCAA regional play begins.
