Applications for USAC and GSA now available

CORRECTION: Applications are due April 14 at 5 p.m.

Candidate packets for the undergraduate student government elections are available to students in good academic standing as of Wednesday. Packets can be picked up from the Election Board Office, 313 Kerckhoff Hall, and are due April 14 at 5 p.m.

The beginning of a six-week process, the 13 seats on the Undergraduate Students Association Council will be voted on in a student election sixth week.

Among other duties, USAC offices are responsible for sponsoring programs for students throughout the year, including Bruin Bash and various community service events, as well as approving funding allocations to eligible student groups.

An Election Board comprised of students approved by USAC presides over the process.

“We, the Elections Board, are very excited to run the upcoming elections. We hope to run a fair and well-organized election. Furthermore, we hope to gain more participation from the entire student body,” said Election Board Chairman Hector Lucero in an e-mailed statement.

Applications for the Graduate Students Association, who represent the interests of graduate students on campus, are available at the GSA Web site: gsa.asucla.ucla.edu. The association is comprised of a president and three vice presidents, with applications due to Kerckhoff 316 on April 7 at 5 p.m.
