LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Pherson’s moral agenda is unfair

Does Alex Pherson really believe that not ostracizing/publicly stoning/executing adulterers will lead to societal acceptance of bestiality and rape in his Feb. 25 column, “Public forgives Woods too easily”?

I honestly have no idea what he believes we’re supposed to do to them; he never specifies.

He dismisses as ridiculous the ideas that “(1) sex is a natural phenomenon and (2) [various forms of sex] should not be separated out into various gradations of decency.”

The first one is, of course, completely true, and the second one is a complete straw man. No one actually believes that adultery is acceptable behavior.

We can all agree that Tiger Woods is a jerk for cheating on his wife.

What some of us who were born in the years since 1930 believe, however, is that being a jerk doesn’t exclude one from participating in society.

Tiger Woods can play golf better than just about anyone alive, so he should have the chance to do so.
