The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students who wish to attend.

“¢bull; An amendment from the Office Space Allocation Committee to approve shared space between student groups for the 2009-2010 academic year was passed with a vote of 12-0-0.
“¢bull; Council members approved the allocation of $25,000 to Night Powell, completing the remaining 1/5 of the estimated $125,000 funds needed to secure the space for the remainder of the 2009-2010 academic year, with a vote of 12-0-0.
“¢bull; Jasmine Graves was unanimously appointed to sit on the Student Conduct Committee with a vote of 12-0-0.
“¢bull; Financial Chair Brian Tan’s contingency allocations were passed with a vote of 10-2-0.
Special Presentations
“¢bull; Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Judith Smith spoke about the accreditation process UCLA is currently undergoing. The process occurs every 10 years and determines state funding for the university.
“¢bull; General Representative Addison Huddy and Facilities Commissioner Tim Mullins presented information regarding concerns with Undie Run, including potential solutions and changes to the event that could result in its reinstitution.
“¢bull; Office Space Allocation Committee Chair Argie Mina brought updates about a conflicting and limited office space to the council, who voted on an amendment on shared space for the next year.
Officer Reports
“¢bull;Internal Vice President Shahida Bawa’s office is cosponsoring a diversity discussion series, the first of which will be held next week. Her office is also working on renovating the nondenominational prayer room and will be holding a healthcare reform forum week eight. She is also working on securing women’s gym hours for next quarter and will be holding a kickoff event 10th week.
“¢bull; External Vice President Susan Li has been meeting with representatives from labor unions to work on UCLA student involvement in the labor movement.

“¢bull; To remember the passage of Proposition 8 a year ago, a speaks out will be held on Meyerhoff Park’s lawn today at noon.
“¢bull; The Tom’s Shoes Walk will be held Saturday at noon on Kerckhoff patio, featuring Hanson.
“¢bull; Applications for funding from the Green Initiative Fund are due Tuesday of ninth week. The applications are open to any student group holding green or sustainable events.
“¢bull; Applications for the winter textbook scholarship program are now available on the USAC Web site.
