Police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed three women at knifepoint in the parking structure below the Intramural Field on Sept. 18. The man, who is described in a UCPD statement as being about 18 years old, and Hispanic, reportedly stole the victims’ wallets and fled on foot. None of the victims were injured.
Police are working with local law enforcement to locate the suspect, but not much else can be done at this point, said UCPD Capt. John Adams
“This was a fairly random act that occurred on campus, so everything depends on what leads are generated. We need the public’s help on that,” Adams said.
He said robberies are very rare on the UCLA campus but not unheard of.
“We’re in the city of L.A. and people need to take precautions,” he added.
Adams said that if students must be on campus at night, they should use the escort service, travel in groups and in well-lit areas. If confronted by a robber, students should comply with demands and call police immediately after the incident.
