A man and two women were injured at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on Saturday after heavy winds blew over some of the scaffolding in Dickson Court.
University officials remain unclear on the status of the injured victims, said Todd Schindler, a UCLA spokesman. He added that they were struck at approximately 2:25 p.m.
A 15-foot-tall piece of scaffolding was knocked over by gusty winds, according to a UCLA statement.
Two of the victims were taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and the other was taken to St. John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica, according to the statement.
Winds were calmer on Sunday, and no other injuries were reported at the annual event.
