A sexual battery occurred Wednesday at 2:15 a.m. on the 500 block of Glenrock Avenue, according to a university police safety report released Thursday.
Kristi Godines, a UCPD crime analyst, said a female victim was reportedly walking northbound on Glenrock Avenue when an unknown subject stopped ahead of her. The subject was a 6-foot, white male of medium build and had short brown hair, according to the report.
The subject grabbed the victim’s wrist and pushed her up against a wall after attempting to grab her breast. The victim, who chose only to release limited information to the public, was able to run away. She did not require medical treatment, according to the report.
Other details of the attack are under investigation, said Nancy Greenstein, a UCPD spokeswoman.
Glenrock Avenue, at which the assault occurred, is located in the North Village.
“It’s an area west of campus with a large student population,” she said.
Greenstein said she encourages student safety on and off campus.
She said students should avoid walking alone, especially in the early morning and at night.
Students are encouraged to stay alert of their surroundings while walking.
Reports of sexual battery have occurred in Westwood before, though Wednesday morning’s incident is the first reported in the UCLA community this year, according to the UCPD Web site.
