UCLA senior midfielder Christina DiMartino was the second runner-up for the 2008 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy, awarded Friday night in St. Louis, Mo.
Notre Dame’s senior forward Kerri Hanks won the award that honors the nation’s top college soccer player, and North Carolina’s Casey Nogueira came in second.
Hanks, who won the award in 2006, became only the fourth two-time winner and the only player in history to win the award in non-consecutive years. Hanks led the Fighting Irish to the College Cup Finals and ended the season fifth in the nation in goals, tied for third in assists and tied for second in points.
DiMartino was the second UCLA player in the last two years to be a finalist for the award. Junior forward Lauren Cheney was the first runner-up for the award last year.
