UCLA returned to practice Monday and showed a bit of rust after two days off, coach Rick Neuheisel said. Here are some notes from the practice, which ran for almost three hours.
– Offensive tackle Mike Harris will play against BYU this weekend.
– Linebacker Reggie Carter wore a no-contact jersey at today’s practice, but it was only a precaution. He will play Saturday.
– Wide receiver Gavin Ketchum has been cleared to play. Coaches are concerned about his conditioning, but Neuheisel said he could play 10-15 plays.
– Freshman wide receiver Nelson Rosario has a knee injury and is listed as questionable.
– Wide receiver Marcus Everett and tight end Logan Paulsen will not play against BYU.
– "There is some hope" that runningback Khalil Bell will play Saturday, Neuheisel said.
– Guard Darius Savage played with the first team offense today. He is battling for a starting spot with Scott Glicksberg.
– Offensive coordinator Norm Chow will return to BYU this weekend, where he coached for 17 seasons, but said it is "just another game" to him.
– Tight end Ryan Moya said he knows he has to step up for the injured Paulsen. He said that the Cougars’ linebackers are "very disciplined" and that the team runs an NFL style defense.
Check back for more updates tomorrow. Neuheisel said it will be a very big day.
