Sen. Larry Craig’s resignation warranted

In regards to “No need to flush away Craig’s career” (Viewpoint, Sept. 23), I complete agree with Robby Nadler’s assertion that “being gay or being gay and having surreptitious sex in a restroom is not any indication of one’s ability to effectively perform one’s job.”

However, this is not the reason Sen. Larry Craig was pressured to resign from office.

Craig was arrested for lewd conduct in a public bathroom, and he pled guilty to a disorderly conduct charge to “make it go away.” According to the police report, he even pulled out a Senate business card, a possible violation of Senate ethics rules, and asked the police officer, “What do you think of that?”

Craig should resign or be removed from office based on his ethics and actions. Should a United States senator be held to a higher standard than the average American citizen? Absolutely.

MyUCLA forums provide untapped resources

The MyUCLA forums are some of the least-known and least-used resources UCLA provides, but they are some of the best.

Most of us “forumers” stumbled upon them by accident while procrastinating or when trying to find answers about UCLA’s policies, classes or social life.

But the conversations on the forums aren’t limited to questions and answers you can find at your counselor’s office. Heated debates ensue over clashing values and ideologies, current political issues and even fantasy football. Many of the forumers have become friends because of their conversations, and one couple, who met as a result of compatible views shared on the forums, recently became engaged.

I met my boyfriend of three years through the forums, and some of my most cherished friendships evolved through the site as well.
