Last Sunday, in another show of ill-advised attempted violence, an animal rights group attempted to fire bomb the car of UCLA Professor Arthur Rosenbaum.
This is the second attempted fire bombing of a UCLA researcher, and only one in a long history of threats made toward faculty.
A spokesman for an organization representing several animal rights groups said the Animal Liberation Brigade took responsibility for the incendiary device placed next to Rosenbaum’s car through an anonymous communique.
The spokesman said the group resorts to violence because the university has not stopped experimenting on animals after repeated requests from activists that they do so.
The spokesman also went as far as to say that attacks that could endanger the life and well-being of UCLA faculty are morally justified because of their experimentation on animals.
Such attacks are never justified, and amount to terrorism.
UCLA rightfully refuses to meet with groups that advocate violence against faculty, so this board advises the Animal Liberation Brigade and groups like it to stop using force and scare tactics, if nothing else, as a way to help their cause.
